2015

The major element of the whole project is the repair and making safe of the walls around and within the cemetery. This aspect therefore received major attention in 2015.

The wall between the Anglican and Non-Conformist sections of the churchyard was a in a poor state of repair and the gaps which allowed access between the sections were particularly concerning. The repair of this section was undertaken by specialist contractors after the immediate area had been cleared by BANES council staff.

The second major aspect tackled in 2015 was to tackle the muddy slope and broken down wall which provided pedestrian access between the cemetery and Smallcombe Woods. The slope was replaced by a series of stone steps and the wall was rebuilt with the incorporation of a stile designed in conjunction with the National Trust and local residents who are regular users of this path.
